'87 gas tank ?
I was wondering if it is possible to shorten my stock gas tanks. What i mean exactly, and hoping i can do is cut out a 2" section in the middle to raise up the bottom. Will the pump work still. I have yet to pull the pump outta mine to look, but i was thinking i could modify the tubes to fit the shortened tank? I don't want a relocated tank(s). Also if this is possible, who do i get to do this job. I know i read an ad somewhere that this is possible, but you have to have someone who knows what their doing ie: KABOOM lol Any answers??? This is one of my next projects, any info would be sweet! Thanks

i always say anything is posible,but i would start with a gas tank that is new and never had gas in it

thought about it, but this truck is basically in mint cond. and i'd prefer to use the existing as they are still good

Even with 2inches gone the tanks will still be very close to the ground when you drag it. I just pulled both of mine and used the space to mount my air tanks. Fuel cell is the way to go.

thats not what i am worried about, i can make a skid plate if needed, i am not going witha fuel cell!!!

You could purge the hell out of that tank with Argon, but good luck finding somebody to do it
 I agree with doughby82 on this one. Safer to just start with new clean tanks and you could probably sell/ebay your current. Somebody somewhere has to be needing some!!!
