1985 Chevrolet D30 roller project
1984 Chevy D30 (M1008 CUCV) roller. 5900 Curb Weight 8800 GVWR
Body off frame blast and POR15, all new body mounts with 1” body lift. All fasteners removed were retained, stripped, and replated (zinc gold). Body is very straight and rust free except for a few spots, one spot on passenger door needs retouched, roof needs repaint, the paint peeled off not sure whats going on there. Bed has rust on drivers rear fender well bottom, needs attention. Bed is from a dual fuel tank truck, filler door on both sides. Added a saddle tank to the passenger side, it is a dual tank truck now. Passenger tank acts as an auxiliary tank, plan was to plumb in a small transfer pump to the driver side sender fuel tank. To this end I also built and welded in a stainless in-tank sump with one-way flapper. Fuel gets into the sump, can't get out, and the pump will stay submerged in any off-camber position. Plan was for an LS swap so thinking of EFI and proofing against lean out under all conditions resulting from the pump losing in-tank fuel. Rear springs are stock Chevy 1-ton with ORD shackle flip. Rebuilt leaf springs. Chevy disc brake conversion with braided brake line extensions to the calipers. Axle is the stock GM corporate 14 bolt full floater, 4.56 gears and stock Detroit locker. It is shaved and plated to gain about 1 ¼” of ground clearance. About .25: machined off the ring gear OD for clearance. All new bearings and a thick billet diff cover. Front springs are 52” Chevy rears from a Blazer. Lift is from a DIY4x4 B52 spring relocation kit. Stamped OEM Chevy shackle hangers have been replaced by thick billet welded units. Greaseable bolts all around. Axle is a Dana 60 with 4.56 gears and a Yukon locker. Locking hubs are Mile Marker. Outer (stub shaft) axles upgraded to chromoly 35 spline and all heavy-duty dana/spicer U-joints. Steering knuckles rebuilt and over the knuckle 1-ton steering arms added. Frame was plated at the steering gear box gear box is a rebuilt unit and drilled/tapped for hydraulic steering. Seats are Smittybilt XRC suspension seats. Center console is from a late model full size dodge pickup. It folds up into a 3rd jump seat. Floors are bed lined. Dash is in great shape with no cracks. Painted to match the center console grey. Steering column is a tilt unit and the steering wheel is from an S10 (smaller diameter). Will come with LOADS of extras, instrument clusters, harnesses, hardware, lots of new LMC truck stuff for the doors, fasteners. Frame numbers match the body tags which match the title. Clean green michigan title. No motor, no trans, no transfer case, no bumpers. It’s a roller. Ive had this for a year, A lot has changed in that time and im just not sure im the one to finish this truck. Its tough because this is the nicest 4x4 ive ever owned. Pictures are from when I bought it, i've since removed the bed and started to rebuild it.
