What is the best factory appearing radiator overflow bottle anyone has come up with? I figure there must be some GM car or truck that used one that fits well and looks right in a '67-'72.

I use this washer bottle and bracket. I simply run a 5/16" or 1/4" hose from the radiator filler neck barb to the bottle. Use a 16 PSI Lever lock radiator cap and your radiator stays full and drip free. Bottle should be about half full when the engine is up to temp. https://www.lmctruck.com/1967-72-che...per-and-washer The bracket, bottle and cap, and enough hose to plumb it. I have one for a late '70s Nova.[?] It's an OER part. Got it from Jeg's. Kind of a teardrop shape, but it tucks perfectly inside the passenger/side fender, next to the battery box.
Sorry I can't recall P/Ns, and my pix are trapped on my old computer.
The only drawback was that I had to pull the battery carrier to mount it. It's suspended by a single bolt thru the pass/side fender, just aft of the fusible link terminal. Most of the weight is borne by the inside fender skirt.

On my '71 4x4 I used a factory mount bracket and W/S washer bottle like is found on the driver's side and mounted it to the passenger side just aft of the battery. Use a 16 lb. closed system cap with the safety release lever and some clear vinyl tubing. Keep it at about 1/3 full when cool, works well and looks as if it is a factory install.

I used the washer bottle and bracket as well. It looks like it belongs there. I used an S-10 washer bottle with a pump for the windshield washer.

This is a $11 Dorman "coolant recovery" tank (read it is like a modern closed system vs "overflow")

I used a spacer to match the offset from core support on one of the 2 attachment screws. The hole for the hose from radiator is already in the core support. Coolant recovery tanks require a "closed system" cap. You fill radiator completely up vs leaving them 3" low for coolant expansion. As coolant heats up it expands into the "recovery" tank and when the motor cools, it is drawn back into radiator. The hose from radiator goes into the bottom of the tank vs the top of a "overflow" only tank so it can be drawn back into radiator, like a modern cooling system.

The tank noted that would fit inside PS fender is for a 75 Nova ($45 on Summit). I have one in my 67 Camaro. My 72 C10 has the vapor canister in that area so I elected to go Dorman route on the truck

The hose on an overflow tank goes to within 1/2" of the bottom of the tank. It works the same way. Manufacturers have built them like that for years. Modern cooling systems on most vehicles incorporate the tank into the cooling system (it's under pressure), so there is technically no recovery tank.

Thanks! I will look into the Nova bottle. Saw on the web some use a G body bottle, it's curved on the bottom and fits on the right inner fender too.

This is the 75 Nova tank I put in my 67 Camaro. It should also work on a C10 unless you still have EVAP canister installed

I bought another windshield washer tank for a '72 right off the parts board here. I mounted it on the core support same as in post #6. Works great, and looks like it was meant to be there.

Some impressive and functional mounting ideas here.
The tucked away Nova one in particular.
I used an aftermarket windshield washer tank.
Works well.

I had the Nova puke tank installed on my '68 C/10 Stepside, but the 292 runs so cool, I didn't need it, so I moved it over to my '71 GMC Jimmy K/1500 w/ a 350. Still working out the bugs.
The Radiator shop repaired my 4 core copper/brass radiator OK, but they ignored my instruction to clock the filler neck relief outlet to the rear at 6'o'clock.

Kind of a PIA, that you have to pull the Battery, then the Batt Box, to get it in there, but once you're past the surgery, it fits like it was meant to be there.
My old Batt Box was corroded thru, so I had to replace it anyway.

I have sold the truck but yes, the dimensions are what listing notes. One good thing about Amazon is easy returns

If you see my pic I used a spacer to absorb the gap for the PS hold down screw to core support.

Attached Images __________________ Mike 1969 C10 LWB -- owned for 35 years. 350/TH350, 3.08 posi, 1st Gen Vintage Air, recent AAW wiring harness, 5-lug conversion, 1985 spindles and brakes. 1982 C10 SWB -- sold 1981 C10 Silverado LWB -- sold, but wish I still had it! 1969 C10 (not the current one) that I bought in the early 1980s. Paid $1200; sold for $1500 a few years later. Just a hint at the appreciation that was coming. Retired as a factory automation products salesman. Worked part-time over the years for an engine builder and a classic car repair shop. Member here for 24 years! This is the very first car/truck Internet forum I joined.
