Picked up this 1972 C10 today. I spotted this on line while just browsing laying in bed. I showed the household CFO aka wife. She checked the funds. She said "go get it, we got enough saved"

Im gonna change the mirrors to the smaller ones. The aux tanks was removed. The PO kept them. Not sure what im gonna do with them yet. The PO said the cop spot worked at one time. But I am going to keep it and get it working again.

A bit of TLC. Some changes. But nothing big. Runs good. Fires up. Speedometer is off by 10 MPH.

Unity Spotlights still support their product. They are in Chicago.
As for the speedometer reading low[?] -- tires are a different size than stock. If they are bigger, then the gauge reads slow. If smaller it will read faster than it really is.
Correction Boxes that connect to the Speedo cable and screw into the transmission used to be available from specialists. If Manual. Automatics required a small plastic gear wheel inside the tranny. Color-coded, I think.
Or get a GPS, and read that, at least whenever you see a cop.
With the big mirrors you can spot them easier when they try to sneak up you Six.

Does it have a legible SPID? Let's see it. Was it originally medium blue with white top?

Looks like a great truck to drive and "improve" as you go. The AC and heater hose routing looks odd to me.. Compressor missing? I am about 18 months ahead of you on a similar journey. Unfortunately, it is more expensive than you think You will have lots of fun nonetheless. If you want to reinstall the aux tanks, PM me. I can give you a few tips on hardware and workarounds as the pieces needed can be difficult to source.

It does have a legible SPID. Unfortunately it's from another truck. VIN doesn't match so I'm guessing the glove box cover isn't original to this truck. But the PO says it was a white top. The interior is the previous color.

I definitely see areas to improve on. AC parts are missing so no AC yet. The heater core was leaking so the PO rerouted the heater hoses. I'm thinking about reinstalling the aux tanks. If or when I do, I'll definitely PM you.
Can you post a picture of the correct heater hose routing? Thanks.

Probably a bulb or a wire.

I have one, swagged off a blown-up ambulance from a movie. I got the A-Pillar bracket from Unity, P/N: 202. Need to put rollbars in my Jimmy before I structurally weaken the A-Pillar. Even with the fiberglass top it's still a convertible.

I am sure this is not 100% factory correct but it is 100% functionality correct. Likely a hose is out of position relative to over or under the other but the terminations are for sure correct. Hopefully the image orientates correctly. A key point. From your engine connection the water flows to the valve on the wheel well. From the valve it goes to the bottom nipple of the heater core. Upper nipple of the heater core goes to the radiator nipple. This connection insures the air is forced up in the core and out the return to the radiator avoiding air pockets.
When you work on the heater, AC system, your first step BEFORE you turn on the fan is to get all the leaves and rodent debris out of the vent system. There will be plenty. This will avoid hanging up the fan and burning out the blower motor.

I know I'm a lucky man everyday. High school sweetheart from 1998. I spotted her walking away, if you know what i mean 😉. I'm happy with the truck. Looks good.
