Re: Lug Wrenches

Hey I got a question. Wish I had my original nuts for my C10 but don't. I've always thought they were 3/4" hex for my truck.

I bought OEM nuts from a board member that are 13/16" hex with correct 1/2 x 20 threads and installed them with fresh wheels and hub caps - fits like a glove.

Figure they're later model lug nuts or?

Re: Lug Wrenches

No expert for sure as still learning after a good number of years playing with trucks but....the 3/4'' lug wrench I matched up to the lug nuts that came on a 67 GMC 1/2 ton of my BILs. The 13/16'' lug wrench I matched up to the lug nuts that came on a 70 Chevrolet 3/4 ton I parted. Thinking a C30 or 1 ton uses 7/8'' lug nuts originally. Hope that helps out altho possible lug nut size and thread size can be of changed thru the years.

I do have a couple more 3/4'' and 13/16'' lug wrenches I have not cleaned up yet if you have an interest. LMK.

Re: Lug Wrenches

My 70 c20 longhorn has the 13/16 lug nuts on the rear and the 7/8 on the front, it also has disc brakes on the front. All of the ball joints have been replaced as they all have the rivets drilled out and replaced with bolts/ nuts. Purchased truck 2 weeks ago ,joined site also. Good move on both. Been trying to search for reason for different lug nut sizes on front and rear. Newbie just wondering. Thanks, good luck on all your projects

Re: Lug Wrenches

G-749, with your 70 having disc brakes and 7/8 lug nuts I suspect at some point a previous owner changed to a newer one ton front end. No disc brakes from the factory until 1971. Not an expert by any means but thinking the front end suspension was changed for the disc brake option and the one ton trucks also used the eight lug wheels as do the 3/4 ton trucks.

Welcome aboard to the best GM truck forum on the net and good luck with your recent truck purchase.
