I need help on modifying 2wd cab for 4wd frame
I'm replacing the cab on my 4speed, 1977 K10 Chevy, and I think 73-80 are the years that'll work the best, and I've been finding 2wd cabs only. I know I that I'll need to add the 4wd T case hump, but is the floor under the seat the same between 2 & 4 wd? Also, are the cab mount cushions different? Thanks!

Re: I need help on modifying 2wd cab for 4wd frame
I used a 77 2wd C-20 cab on a 78 4wd K20 frame.
The 4wd cab mount bushings need to be used. My truck was and Automatic truck. I cut a hole for the transfer case lever. I also dropped the transfer case 1 inch because of the lift kit I had. This helped with the driveshaft alignment.

Re: I need help on modifying 2wd cab for 4wd frame
You can use a 2wd cab, but the floor is not the same under the seat and will require a patch panel. See pictures. The orange truck is a 2wd 4 speed cab, the green truck is a 4wd 4 speed truck. Auto Metal Direct sells the rear portion of the tunnel as a patch panel. You will have to cut out the floor where it goes and spot weld or bond it in somehow.

Re: I need help on modifying 2wd cab for 4wd frame
Around here people used to put a 2" body lift under a 2wd cab to make it work. I have heard that that is not necessary and it will fit without the lift. I am hoping to do this swap in the next 2 months so I will know for sure pretty soon.

Re: I need help on modifying 2wd cab for 4wd frame
Also, the other thing you could try is a 1" transfer case drop. Most people do that anyways if they are putting a 4" or more lift on their truck and need to correct driveline angles. It might not be enough for the t-case to clear the floor, but it's worth a try.

Re: I need help on modifying 2wd cab for 4wd frame
You'll need the trans hump cover and the tunnel piece that extends under the seat. The rear of the 4wd hump cover won't have anything to bolt onto without the piece that goes under the seat.
