Long bed side measurement, part of ?
Well Maybe I need to quit sitting around dreaming this stuff up but does someone have the measurement from the front of the bed side to the part of the second stancheon post that is spot welded to the bedside. As in if you cut the bed at that point that would be the front of the bedside and look and work as original with a few new holes.
I've helped do a couple of them in the past but don't have any measurements . That and my Buddy's old truck is too far away to measure. Borrowed photo that MrTucker posted a while ago that I marked.

Re: Long bed side measurement, part of ?
i think...
I need more info. if you cut the bed down and cut off the front stanchion (what your photo shows) all the way to the front of the rear stanchion, the bed will be too short to be a reg bed. but I gotta figure what you are asking is, if I drill out the spot welds on BOTH stanchions and cut the bed down, intending to weld the front stanchion back on, how much do I cut off? the answer to that question is 9 1/8". I just cut down some aprons from long to short and that was the difference between long and short.

Re: Long bed side measurement, part of ?
The bed on this truck is the cut down long bed off the cab donor I bought in 1980.
We cut the bed down at the front of the second stancheon to make a shorter bed on the truck. Truck sat/sits on a modified 65 Chevelle chasssi. The frame swap thing got me to thinking that with my old cab I have enough parts sitting around to put my verson together.

Re: Long bed side measurement, part of ?
I plan to do something like this. I have a 1950 3600 long bed
I am doing the S-10 Frame swap, I have a 1996 GMC Sonoma Ext cab How much would I have to cut the bed sides ,apron and running boards to align the center of the rear fenders with the center of the rear wheels on the extended cab frame. I also plan to use the Sonoma's bed floor as Joedoh has done on his swaps.

The biggest expense is if I rebuild the 350 sitting in the garage because it needs to be bored. That may be just flat too much money to spend on this project though. That may go to someone wanting a 4 bolt main core to build and a runner used.
