WTB: a purdy step bumper
Purdy is optional, but specifically looking for something close to the style of the step bumpers shown below. Shipping would be cost prohibitive, mainly looking for something I could come pick up in the nearby area (mid-to-North TX, OK, LA, AR, NM etc). Need the brackets to mount to the frame too Thank you!

Re: WTB: a purdy step bumper
Thanks for sharing Warren - wow, Cleburne (the stamped dealer hometown) is literally 5 min from my house(!) I'm not looking for a chrome one though, unfortunately. Thanks again, appreciate you posting that one.

Re: WTB: a purdy step bumper
chrome can be stripped, that looks to be the correct style with the square stamped foot area.

Re: WTB: a purdy step bumper
ok, on my way to FL this weekend... Yes, that is exactly what I'm looking for, still hoping to find. Prefer that it have the vertical strip at the top that masks the view under the bed/back of the bed - like yours does and the ones I posted of my 72 in post 1.

Re: WTB: a purdy step bumper
Here's a thought, you could buy the chrome one, strip it, weld a vertical piece like you want on the back, paint it and mount it. A little work but would like nice with the dealers name on it. Good luck with your hunt.

Re: WTB: a purdy step bumper
Thanks old51, not a bad idea at all - welding the vertical strip crossed my mind as well. While I do like that the chrome one had a nearby town dealer stamp, I think I’m gonna see if any unstamped ones pop up - I think I’d like to find one more like like the one in post 1. Thanks all for the replies and options, much appreciated!!

Maybe too far away, but looks like your bumper.

(also not sure if seller is willing to separate the pile, but if closer, I'd definitely be asking). UNLESS, of course, someone just happens to be driving from WA to TX and wants a 200 lb passenger.. |

Re: WTB: a purdy step bumper
I didn't. Although I can't get to the link on fb at the moment (sometimes I can see them, sometimes I can't, without a fb acct) - if I recall, this one had a dealer stamp(?) Mentioned somewhere above that I'd like to see if I can find one with no stamp.

Re: WTB: a purdy step bumper
Warren, thanks very much for your time chatting on the bumper. My bad, I didn't notice it didn't have the wraparound ends like in my original post (and thanks so much for the additional pics to help clear that up for me) - so, since I'm not in a hurry, I'm going to pass for now. Nice bumper and I greatly appreciate the offer, but I'm going to keep looking for as close of a twin to post #1 as I can find.

Re: WTB: a purdy step bumper
I have one off my 68 stepper that I am not going to use. Has brackets to mount and probably can be trimmed up to what you want.

Re: WTB: a purdy step bumper
It's not all that purdy, but it could be. It has been blasted and primed but stored outside, so has some surface rust again. I can get more/better pictures for you tomorrow. I'm just out of Baton Rouge.

Re: WTB: a purdy step bumper
Same here jocko. Thanks for the fender, it's gonna work out perfectly. The truck is a couple weeks out from becoming my priority project again, then I'll get after it. Glad you made it home, you take care too.
I just realized it's been just over a year since I've posted progress on Ole Blu, we've picked at it a bit since then so I guess I'll update that before I get back to it. |
