Door Alignment
Does anyone have some solid advice as to getting my doors aligned properly? I welded in new cab corners, rockers and A pillars a while ago while the cab was still bolted to the frame. Checked the door alignment afterwards and thought it was fairly close before I removed the cab.
I have the cab back on the frame, rebuilt the door hinges and hung the doors. Now I can't get the passenger door to close without rubbing against the rocker. My plan is to hang the doors, bolt my fenders on and get the final alignment for the cab/front core support finished, and any final body/filler work. Remove everything, paint it and re-assemble. Re: Door Alignment
Looks like you nailed it, profiles on door and cab line up nicely, gap at the striker looks good too.. Some have drilled 1/8" holes thru hinge and cab and use this to realign the door after removal for paint. Others may have better options, I still spent a lot of time getting the doors to look strait with the lines and close properly. Is the bottom rear in enough, don't know if that helps or hurts your door bottom rubbing on the rocker.

If I ever do this again, I would START by rebuilding the door hinges before doing anything with the rockers and cab corners. The bottom of both doors turned out to be rotten, so I learned to weld in new bottoms...and solved the slight rubbing issue at the same time. This is the finished product.... Lot of learning and LOTS of work... upload images upload images |
