Yes the gears will swap but there is a difference in carriers say you have 3.08s and you want to put the 3.73s out of the other one in the truck you would have to use the 3.73 carrier but if its 3.08s and you want to put in 3.42s or 2.73s should work fine.
If you have a 3.08 posi chunk that you want to use with factory low gears like me and dont want to locate another chunk just for this Mr Gasket Makes A Ring Gear Spacer That will take Care of that so You can use the Highway Gear Carrier With 3.73 and lower factory gears But they also make aftermarket Low Gears that will work on highway Gear Carriers I have a 68 that has the newer style tilt in it and it apears to have the same harness for the turn signals if you want to be able to start the truck off the colum you will have to get the ign harness that goes to the tilt and wire it into your ign harness that plugs into the key switch on the dashboard but if your not wanting to use the key on the colum should be a direct plug in on the turn signal if not there are some adaptors to go from a half moon harness to the flat one but im not sure if you will need that |

Tilt column from a van would be easier to install and convert. Still using the dash ignition.........
