1970 C10 Factory steering column length?
I want to buy a shorter steering column for my 1970 C10. without pulling the old one out first to measure it. Does anybody know the length of the factory column?

I have my original 1970 column out, and just leaning up against the wall in the shop...I can go out and measure it for you, and post a picture or two.

I think the reproductions are 33".
With that said, overall length doesn't matter that much. It's from mounting point to driver. I improved mine by simply buying a steering wheel with a more shallow dish. |

Here's what I got.
From the end of the shaft, to the top of the steering wheel hub nut, is 36.5" Pictures show pretty much any other length you need.

Re: 1970 C10 Factory steering column length?
I heat and beat the intermediate shaft in ~2 inches and mount the stock column where it lands. Moves the wheel closer to the dash and 2” is near the perfect distance for getting more arm room and not having interference issues between your hands and the dash. Plus if you’re careful you can still get the cluster in and out without dropping the column.
