85 SF 9.5 14 bolt diff cover
Just had my rear rebuilt and I am playing with the break in. Once that is done I would like to throw a cover on with a fill bolt built in. Truck is my winter driver and will see only street driving.
1985 K20 5.7 sm465 205 10/14 9.5" SF 3.42 ratio on 265/75 R16 rubber. What do you guys run? Looking for a cover in the $60 to $120 range.

Re: 85 SF 9.5 14 bolt diff cover
Just ordered this one;
https://justdifferentials.com/gm-9-5...etic-plug.html Bolt pattern looks the same, has the gasket, bolts, and a magnetic fill plug. $66 to my door I will let you guys know if I need to modify it in any way.

Re: 85 SF 9.5 14 bolt diff cover
All I wanted was a stamped cover with a magnetic fill bolt that did not cost $200.
Well 16 days later and they have not shipped the one above out. No signs of it being shipped anytime soon. I have changed the carb, installed new suspension mounts/u bolts, removed and a built a new exhaust, and now I am ready to break in the rear end's new gears. I expected this to be here like a week ago ready to bolt up once I put 500 gentle "break in" miles on the truck. Good chance I am bolting my rusted cover on and filling through the vent tube because of this pathetic company in the above link can not ship a "in stock" part out within 2 weeks. At this point I am expecting it sometime next year(4-5 weeks). I will update when it actually arrives.

Re: 85 SF 9.5 14 bolt diff cover
I called them up and was told delivery would be January 6th.
That is 42 days for an "in stock" item. I could see another additional delay on the horizon. So yea I tried to work with them. But I wont be screwed and I canceled that order. So after some googling I bought Genuine GM Cover 19133288 with gasket and bolts. It has no dang fill bolt so I am filling with the vent tube. But it will replace the rusted cover I have now. Amazon has this kit for under $50 and it can be to your door within 4 days not 42. https://www.amazon.com/GM-Genuine-19.../dp/B08WHJRG7X As far as cheap covers with a fill bolt for the 9.5" your looking at spending $150+, making one yourself from a factory cover, or just filling through the vent tube. There is a 9.5" cover in the 2000ish SF 14 bolt. But it only showed it only worked with those years on multiple sites and at this point I did not want to chance buying one that would not fit. But those covers(without the bolt) were going for like $70ish. Maybe with a bit of massaging you could get one to work on a square body 9.5". Or it could be horribly off and not work at all.

Re: 85 SF 9.5 14 bolt diff cover
That sounds like the crap I've run into from various machinery, truck, automobile, and small engine parts sellers. This includes some well known outfits that have changed hands in the last 5-10 years.
In-stock doesn't mean it's actually in their possession anymore. Delaying the delivery date past 30 days is a big red flag. They're trying to run out the clock on your ability to dispute the charges with your bank. You can weld an O2 sensor bung into a steel diff cover at the correct height. I've done that with transmission pans as well. There are a couple BMW models that use an 18mm plug in the diff and transmission.

You diff doesn't have a filler plug in the casting? I guess I missed something.

Re: 85 SF 9.5 14 bolt diff cover
Same question as Rick, why are you filling thru the vent ?
there's a fill plug on the nose of the diff. Pass side right behind the yoke..why not use it?
