Leaf Springs on K25
I posted this in the suspension section and got crickets…
Leaf spring width question: A while ago I ordered new FRONT leaf springs for my 1969 K2500 from Rock Auto. Now that the weather is turning bad, I was starting to get around to installing them. They appear to be the same part number from multiple vendors. They’re Husky Springs 22-384 aka Dorman 22-384. They’re a three leaf pack and the ones on my truck are only 2 leaves. But the 22-384s are narrower at the eyes. The ones on my truck are 3 1/2” at the front eye and like 3 1/4 at the rear eye. The replacement springs are significantly narrower across the leaf, i.e., 2 1/2 inches. Has anyone installed these on their 3/4 ton 4WD? I’m not sure sure about the width? Thoughts?

Re: Leaf Springs on K25
I have a 68 k25 and a 71 k20. Both of them have 2.5 inch wide springs in the front.

Re: Leaf Springs on K25
That '68 came with the wider springs. In '70 the springs went to a narrower width. Guys use spacers at the spring eyes to make the later springs work on the earlier trucks

Re: Leaf Springs on K25
Are you sure. I think the chances that a old boy changed front springs to be unlikely. Now the rears are definitely longer and wider. Not arguing just saying.

Re: Leaf Springs on K25
Completely normal. The springs should have come with bushings and sleeves to make up the difference in width

Re: Leaf Springs on K25
I was beginning to think that’s the case but one end of the spring has no bushing.

This is the bushing kit (Energy Suspension 3.2112G) I used for the new springs on my truck. Offroad Design has some good info here https://www.offroaddesign.com/front-...gm-trucks.html.
