1989 Cheyenne 1500 Wiper Relay?

After about 20 years of owning this truck and using it mainly for dump runs or to haul stuff in the Spring and Summer, I was driving it this week in the rain only to notice that my wipers do not have a low speed.

Is this normal?

Is there a common fix, and or what are you all using for an aftermarket intermittent wiper relay, if that will fix it?

I am thinking if it's not fixed soon, I will forget about it for a couple years.

Thanks in advance.

I checked out You-Tube only to learned that this and other wiper issues is common problem for these years, so hopefully it should be fixed with a newer style replacement motor.
Thanks.

On a side note, I forgot how much space and leg room these cabins have compared to the earlier years.

Swap out the wiper control module with a new one. That is the part between switch and motor that controls wiper functions

Thanks for information. Just called the local parts store after reading this and they will have one in for me soon.

The 88-90 wiper pulse board is not produced anymore. You cannot install the newer pulse board onto the old wiper motor. If you don't have the newer wiper motor already, I would get one. It will come with a new pulse board on it.

So, I should be good with the purchase of a 92 wiper motor?
Thanks.

Great helpful information here. I'm surprised no one makes these, though. There's no shortage of these trucks in use daily, let alone them becoming popular classics. My '99 Sonoma needs one. There are four choices from four companies on Rock Auto offering

The pulse boards for the new design wiper motor that started in 91 are plentiful. Not 88-90.

I did get that. I'm saying it's strange no replacement part companies make these. Plenty of 88-90s out there yet.

It's true, the circuit board is only available for '91 and newer. You can replace the motor assembly for '88-'90, you can usually find rebuilt for less than $100.
