I see the heater’s not hooked up.
Leaky core perhaps. |

Re: Ultra Low Mile (146) 1977 C10
Nice! I like seeing well preserved examples like this ... it's interesting to note some of the subtle details that are often lost to time as they age.
Like those yellow stickers on the firewall. I assume the "BL" one is for blue interior since it was obviously applied after paint. The others look like "Z84" for the trim level, and (that lower one is a bit hard to read) but I think it might be "A28" for the rear sliding window. And I couldn't help but notice the lug wrench. Don't think I've ever seen one painted that color before. Were some of them originally color coded according to size? |

Re: Ultra Low Mile (146) 1977 C10
Hi Keith ... I was hoping you'd reply to this
Quote:
Dad's 77 GMC was built in Flint and I don't recall his ever having any of those stickers so your reply explains that. We did find the number "802" written in tire marker on the firewall, bottom of the hood, and radiator support. I think it was also on the backs of the door panels too. Guessing that was some sort of build number / sequence number to match the correct parts with the truck. Yeah, I was thinking they were typically black as well. Although I have found a few gray ones in some later 70's Novas. |

Re: Ultra Low Mile (146) 1977 C10
Very Nice 77 C10. Picture of my 77 Chevy Sport Interior below. Good comparison between a "Scottsdale" and "Cheyenne". My truck(Bought New) was assembled at the Janesville WI. plant. (Now Closed) It never had those stickers as shown and has a gray lug wrench. BTW: Truck now stored and not advertised but is for sale.(Will advertise in Hemmings in the Spring) Thanks;Larry

Mine was "number 87". [Note - they typically only wrote the last two or three digits of the full sequence number, usually six digits, as a form of shorthand]. K

What is the exterior color of your truck? I don't think I could ever get used to that yellow trim on a '77, no matter how nice. K

option as "Black" was never offered to the C10's in 1977. Picture Below. Kinda surprise that the engine in the 146 mile truck above looks so ruff. Must have had a bad storage procedure for such low miles. Larry P.S. If you search this board you will see a lot of info on my truck. Thanks |

We had a black '75 and I looked in the Heritage Center info packet and black was not offered that year, either. I do not recall dad saying he had to do anything extraordinary to get that. K

Re: Ultra Low Mile (146) 1977 C10
[QUOTE=Keith Seymore;9274362]Sounds right. I'd be interested to know which plant it was built in because we did not use stickers; we just wrote on the front of dash with a tire marker.
Keith: Picture of the marks on the firewall that was done at Janesville. Looks like they did the same as you guys did. Thanks;Larry |

Re: Ultra Low Mile (146) 1977 C10
That's so funny. I'm glad there are different opinions, different tastes. I like the ochre (yellow) trim but I've never been able to have the different hood color look right to me. Seems like a cool option but the different color looks like a replacement hood to me, even with the stripes. I could "learn to live with it" if I had this truck ; )

Re: Ultra Low Mile (146) 1977 C10
i like the ochre trim, way back when i had my 73 short fleet cheyenne super repainted i had the ochre trim installed on it instead of the black trim, had the emblems removed, installed a square tube chrome grill, and found a blank tailgate band for it. wish i had it back in the same condition as when i sold it

Re: Ultra Low Mile (146) 1977 C10
Did those hood stripes signify anything special? My red 77 has them and I used to think a PO added them.

Re: Ultra Low Mile (146) 1977 C10
The stripes on the hood were part of the RPO ZY5 "Exterior Decor Package". It was one of the several available factory paint combinations.
ZY1 = solid color ZY2 = conventional two-tone ... secondary color on the top & upper rear of cab. ZY3 = special two-tone ... secondary color on the sides along the middle. ZY4 = deluxe two-tone ... a combination of the ZY2 & ZY3 with secondary color on both the top & upper rear of the cab plus the sides along the middle. ZY5 = exterior decor package ... basically ZY4 with the addition of the secondary color on the hood, stripes on the hood, and a hood ornament. |
