Still running one in my 67... Good little engine and cruises the hiway just fine. The V-6 ran through 69 in the gmcs.

These are industrial grade engines. They are tough and torquey, but thirsty! I would keep it if you are not daily driving it.

Re: 68 GMC with 305 v-6 ??

More heavily advertised in the early 60's when typical buyers were more interested in engine durability, versus later 60's, when buyers were more interested in performance.

Re: 68 GMC with 305 v-6 ??

Probably one of the most overbuilt engines ever installed in a light duty pickup. A V12 version was built off it. Cool and unique to see one today.

They're indestructible... unless someone leaves water in the cooling jacket and it freezes.

Re: 68 GMC with 305 v-6 ??

Thanks guys. I just pulled it out !! I’m installing a350,350,p/s, p brakes. It’s complete from air breather down. 3 speed std. I have all the clutch linkage , z bar , bracket. Motor stands I have a video of it running. Not sure what it’s worth. Thanks again.

Re: 68 GMC with 305 v-6 ??

It's definitely worth finding a good home for. There is a following and as said, an overbuilt and durable engine. Would be a great swap into a tractor
