73-87 posi on a 69

Will a 73-87 (I don't know the exact year of the truck) rearend fit onto a 69 truck. Is it too narrow.

The rear will work but you will have to put all your brackets on it and fab up a panhard bar bracket i think the newer style is about 1/2 wider than the 69 there ident to a 72 as far as width

Would I be able to use the leaf springs from the 79 on my truck? (I found out that that is the year of the truck)

I dunno i suppose you could put leaf springs on the frame of the 72 jsut as long as you get them sqaure its alot of work i had a friend to put leafs on an old truck once he had to customfy some brackets to get them sqaure because of the was the frame was shapped.

I was talkin about putting just the rearend in and welding the coil spring brackets to it isnt really all that difficult just gotta get it sqaure.

Ohhh, my truck is a leaf sprung 69. I noticed that I didn't even mention it was a 3/4 ton. I was in a hurry that day.
I was thinking that I could just remove the leafsprings from the half ton and put them right inplace of the 3/4ton springs. Maybe I could even swap the brackets. The reason I want to do this is so that the truck will sit lower.

I don't believe the spring pads are the same width on the rear ends nor do I believe that the leaves are the same length. If you have the resources, it is not too difficult to relocate new pads and shock mounts on the new diff and it might be easier to find some 69-72 1/2 ton 2wd leaves to swap in.
