Caprice rear disk question. . . . .
Ok, I can get a entire rear end from a mid to late 90's Caprice from the local bone yard for $150. It has rear disks. I have read that you can use the rear rotors on a 12 bolt, but can the entire Caprice rear disk set up be used on a truck 12 bolt? Will the backing plates bolt to the truck rear end? The Caprice is kinda buried in the dirt so I really can't get any measurments that would be any good to find out. Plus $$$ is real tight right now, so I don't wanna end up with a $150 boat anchor sitting in my garage. Does any one have any input on this situation? Any help would be awesome. Thanks.

I have seen that thread. That is how I know that the Caprice rotors will fit. I was wanting to use the Caprice backing plates though, so I can use the Caprice parking brake, and be using all GM parts.

The Caprice backing plate will not work on a 12 bolt. The axle tube on the Caprice rearend is smaller and the bolt pattern for the backing plate is different.

383 Stroker, what did you use for brackets? I can get cailpers and rotors at work, so reallythe only thing holding me is a bracket set-up. I do need a parking brake though. Hhhmmmmmmm. . . .

I made the backing plate out of 3/8" steel.
