front tires for 52
Im getting my 52 3600 back on the road after 6 years sitting in the barn. It needs front tires. I have some dodge truck 16X6 wheels that clear the tire rods. looking for a 7.00X16 steer type tire look for the front. was thinking of 215/85/16 size tire. Any one have any recommendations? I want to keep the stock look. found some Mastercraft courser hxt that have the right look for $150 each.

Re: front tires for 52
I don't know the brand but a 215/85/16 should be right at 30.4 inches tall.
As long as the Dodge wheel center holes fit the Chevy hub. I always get mixed up on the center hole thing on Chevy, Dodge and Ford 8 lug wheels. I've carried a Ford 16.5 wheel and tire off my mom's 77 F250 (that I drive all the time) on my 71 GMC 2500 and that works. Tire size dot com has a tire size calculator https://tiresize.com/calculator/ and click on the tire comparison calculator https://tiresize.com/comparison/ and you can compare two tire sizes side by side. Pretty useful stuff when you are wanting to see the diameter and width of a tire you are thinking of running or want to compare two tires side by side. I did my 255/60/15 compared to a 255/35/20 yesterday when someone was asking what would fit under the rear of an AD and those tires are the same height and width with 5 inch different rims. I'd say as long as you are happy with that tire we are happy.

diamond back tires gets a lot of praises from the full restoration guys that love the stock look but want a somewhat modern tire and make it a driver. see them mentioned all over the forums here and others.
lots of tire discussion and even tech tips in the tech tip section will help you out as well. |

Re: front tires for 52
Go with the Mastercraft HXT. That's what I run on my '95 Dodge 3500 and two gooseneck trailers, 235/85/16. Between trucks and trailers have over 250,000 miles on the Mastercrafts with no complaints. I usually change out the truck tires at around 50,000 miles since it often tows heavy and wears out the rears. The trailer tires we change at the 5 year mark.
I'm running HXT 215/85/16s on the '51 3600 since 2015 for about 25,000 miles with no issues. Good Luck, RonR
