C10 Carpet Too Short

I just tried to install the carpet, (ACC), in the 68 and it's too short. It doesn't go all the way to the back wall. I noticed the tag on the box says it's for a cab-mounted gas tank. The description in the Classic Parts catalog doesn't say anything about it being for a cab tank.

I went to ACC and they only show a full-length carpet for a large hump floor.

Does anybody know where I can get a full-length carpet?

Re: C10 Carpet Too Short

Update. I now see ACC considers an original floor with a TH400 a high hump. I thought high/large humps were for 4-speed trucks!

High humps were also for pickups with the TH400 transmission.

Re: C10 Carpet Too Short

You got it, high hump was for manuals, 4wds, and bbc/autos.

Not quite following why the carpet wouldn’t go all the way to the tank. It’s possible they have some that just go to barely under the seat?

Re: C10 Carpet Too Short

Thanks, guys.

I discovered that ACC has a few combinations with humps, with or without tanks, auto trans, TH400 trans. Classic Parts only has two carpets; small or large hump. No mention of with or without tank. Figures...

I found the part# I need. I'll probably go with Amazon. Less than $200 free shipping compared to going directly through ACC for $300.

Re: C10 Carpet Too Short

I have ordered two from Rock Auto. One truck is a bb/400 high hump, one sbc/350. Both were short. If you order the gas tank cover carpet it will cover the rest of the floor.

Re: C10 Carpet Too Short

Cool, even cheaper. $172 total. I'll be getting #17901. TH400 and covers the entire floor.

Odd I ordered from Rockauto also the one I put in my 68 actually was climbing up the tank I ended up loosening the tank and tucking the carpet under it . 1968 with 4speed so I ordered the high hump .

Re: C10 Carpet Too Short

You have got to be F**KING KIDDING ME!

Even though this truck originally came with a 400, if this carpet is any indication, I obviously have a small hump! The first carpet that was too short fit way better. Now that I have done a little more research it seems all high humps were bolt-in?

I guess 3rd time's a charm. I'm going to order the "regular" auto transmission option.

BTW, I have no reason to believe this is not an original TH400 truck. The truck was basically unmolested. The kickdown harness and switch are still present. Nothing else looks to be modified for it to be a 350 to 400 swap. Everything looks like it belongs. The SPID says "M49" but, apparently, the same code is used for 350 and 400's.

Now to B*tch at Summit for telling me the hood nose molding I just got in is a Goodmark manufacturer. They either don't know they are talking about or they switched manufacturers.

It's a Corvex piece. Just like the first Corvex piece I tried to install, it's not angled enough to match the hood. It just kinks in the middle when I try to form it. Any ideas?

I am so sick of this...

Re: C10 Carpet Too Short

All high humps are bolt-in. You have a low hump.

Re: C10 Carpet Too Short

For some reason carpet vendors sell carpet as TH400 transmission means high hump. It does not. I don't think there's a chance any carpet vendor will correct this, it is just the way it is. I bought a TH400 carpet for my low hump truck with a TH400. I fixed it by putting a 2x10 board on the hump, making it a high hump. I like it and may just buy high hump carpet again when it comes time to buy new carpet again. I set an organizer/drink holder on it, and screwed the mount for my fire extinguisher to the passenger side of it using wood screws through the carpet.

Re: C10 Carpet Too Short

I thought about building up the tunnel to match the carpet but I didn't want to "make it work".
