pullies and belts?

my dad told me earlier tonight that he heard i could swap on a serp. belt and pulley setup off of a later model astrovan and it should all work.

how fisable is this? also, what other vehicles could i swap onto my engine to make it simplier.

If its a 4.3 it should be real close. Just remember on most serp setups the waterpump pulley runs backwards & you will need to get a waterpump with a reversed impeller to match it up...corn

You must have the holy grail of parts deptartments near you. All the ones I ever end up at are staffed by parts gophers, if you don't already know exactly what you want you might as well go to Pep Boys

I did it to my truck about 3 years ago and have nt had a problem with it. I have the 88-89 steel set up. look for the 90- i believe 94. it is ALUMINUM and dont have all the support brackets that mine does. If thats all you can get your hands on, make sure you get all the support brackets, YOU NEED ALL OF THEM or you will get alot of harmonics and vibrations fron the ALT and the AC. Then when you get it all on, you can get the PLASTIC 11 BLADE fan from a 98 and newer. there is no weight to them, in fact i took my ELECTRIC FANS off and I LOVE THIS PLASTIC FAN. it performs the same as the electric fans except you dont get the electrical pull and man does it flow some air. GOOD LUCK WITH IT and remeber you will need a reverse rotation waterpump and the fan clutch

I just changed the belt in out 99 Tahoe with the complete serp. system and it took me all of 3 min to do it!!!!! That was without knowing what I was doing and getting it stuck on the fan. With electric fans I bet I could cange it in less than 50 seconds.
