Does this rear view mirror mount look right on my '72?

I purchased the truck this way. It seems too high. I see too much tail gate and no more than three stopped cars behind me..I can't seem to fix the flip of the image.

The 'button' that the mirror attaches to should be 2 7/8" down from the molding to the top of the button; a bit over 4" to the bottom of the button.
Yours may have had the windshield replaced, and the new button placed a bit higher than normal.

Here's a flip. It certainly looks high compared to my 67. Was PO short?
I'm not in any way an expert but it doesn't look like a 72 mirror mount to me.

That does look too high to me. A 72 would be mounted to the windshield.

Yes, definitely. When I first saw that, before the pic was flipped, I wasn't sure if I was looking at a mirror mounting bracket, or something else.
