Meet Lucille

Hey y'all Im in TX and have been known to build a few toys. My most recent project is a 1962 C10 named Lucille. She has been in my family since the 60's.
My brother drove her in high school and I had a blue 66 LWB Custom. We parked her in the hay field in 1997 in Northern Colorado until I hauled her to TX last October. Since then I have taken her from a locked up inline six to period correct hot rod truck. I rebuilt and swapped in a 283 out of a 1962 C10 added tripower, hei, an alternator disguised as a generator and finished her in Poppy's Patina. I also redid the bed and brakes all the way around.I still need to finish the seat and sun visors in leather, and install an Old Air AC system. It feels great to have her back on the road.

Nice! I always worry about underside rot when they sit on grass or soil for any length of time. I'm glad that you were able to save her!

Re: Meet Lucille

Welcome aboard and I like the photos. And, under the hood. I have a 85 LWB
Silverado with a crate 350 HO, a Muncie 4 speed, headers, etc. I have only had this truck for 25 years. It is also our ranch truck for hauling hay, feed, etc. Let us know when you make new improvements

Re: Meet Lucille

I realized that I haven't given an update on Lucille in quite a while. So here's some of the progress that has been made. I have lowered her rear 3 inches and dropped the torsion bars to match. Rebuilt and installed a deluxe gauge cluster that I picked up. Built an overflow system for the cooling system.

Re: Meet Lucille

Besides Poppy's Patina, what did you do to the paint to shine it up? My red 63 that came from TX looks exactly the same as yours did before the Poppy's. Interested in how you prepped it before putting on the Poppy's.

Just prepped and then wiped on Poppy's high gloss. My buddy is doing more pin stripping in January and then Im gonna redo my Poppy's by spraying it on. I got some streaks and dull spots with the wipe on so that's why I'm gonna spray it.
