Panhard/Track Bar

I am going to attempt to replace the bushings on the OE Panhard/Track bar on my 1972 C10.
Is there any advice someone can give me as far as a step by step procedure for removal and installation?
I have read past threads here that after all these years they can be difficult to remove.
Does the rear axle and wheels need to be off the ground and supported with jack stands before removal?
I could use a little direction to safely check this off my list.
Thanks,
Sam
