72 c10 inner door panel question
I was wondering if I removed the wood grain insert if the plastic underneath was smooth or textured and if I did remove the wood grain would I be able to put the trim back on. If not Im looking for suggestions on a good quality insert for both sides. Thanks

Its textured and you can take it off and put it back on

My 72 Cheyenne had scroll underneath the panels. I refinished the panels and went back with the chrome trim only and I like it. I don't know why they added wood grain door panels to my interior. Nothing else is wood grain. Just be careful with the pins on the trim pieces. They're only good for so many bends back and forth and they'll snap off. I know LMC sells a set and probably others. Also, behind the panels are donuts on the handles I assume to keep the panel from bowing inward. The originals I believe are rubber. I bought a set from LMC and they sent cheap lightweight foam. I made my own. Plastic wood grain inserts as well as metal inserts are available Haven't seen either one, but I sure someone on the forum can answer which is better.

On my 1970 Blazer, I took OEM 1972 Blazer CST panels, removed the woodgrain inserts, and replaced the stainless trim. The scroll pattern matches the 1970 seats.

Thanks for the replies. I was hesitant to bend over the wires not knowing what was underneath. Im going to remove the wood grain inserts tomorrow and post pic afterwords.

The standard style with the trim added look great in 67 68 trucks. They match the interior styling without the scrolls.
