guages

Does anyone know how to fix the temp guage or alt guage. I have two sets of them and neither work. If there is a way to check them out I would appreciate it.

thanks!

Temp gauge

Find your block sensor, (drivers side head in front), ground the green wire and if gauge goes to hot senser is bad. If nothing happens it is a wire problem or dash unit problem. Ignition switch must be on to test.

Amp meter, check the two fuses in front, one on each side of the radiator in the harness. The holders look like black rubber foot balls. This is the usual problem. If not the fuses then it is in the wiring or the dash gauge.

To 'bench' check the ammeter, you can take a wire from your battery and hook it to one terminal, then on the other side, put a light bulb in the circuit to act as a resistor. The needle will move either way depending on the polarity of how you hooked it up.

But the most common problem are the fuses for the ammeter. They are on the rearward side of the radiator support behind each headlight in that loom of wire. Both fuses are 4A.
