Door hinge interference issue
Hey guys,
I'm starting to do fitting on a 69 C10 that had been disassembled for well over 10 years. I am running into a fitment issue with the passenger upper door hinge. The hinge body is making contact with one of the door bolts. If you look at the tape, you can see the witness mark coming from the front lower bolt. Does anyone have experience with this situation? What was your solution to salvage the hinge. I have blasted the hinges and installed new bushings and pins. Thanks! I can't see any indication of an image in your post but when I hit Quote to reply the link shows up there..... Strange. Are these the same bolts that were removed when the door was removed? Are the heads of the bolts all the same thickness? .

Re: Door hinge interference issue
I don't know what's going on with the picture. I had just uploaded it to my Flickr account (which I haven't used in several years!), so that may be the problem.
To the bolt question, no, the bolts on the door side are some spares from my personal 69 cab. They are the same size as the bolts that were on the post side. The post side bolts were on the truck when we picked it up. I don't think the doors or these hinges are original to this cab. I did run into this same problem on my personal cab a few years ago. The driver upper hinge was doing the same thing. After fiddling with it for a while, I just swapped it out with another hinge that I had. That may be the solution again. |

Well, I thought I had the picture figured out. I had a http://https:// entered, but changing that out didn't seem to be doing anything. |

Re: Door hinge interference issue
That bolt does not look like it’s seated, can you slip something under the washer? It needs to be tight or you’ll run into interference

![]() I had used a ratchet wrench to tighten the door bolts. it sure felt like it had set. There didn't appear to be any give under the washers though. I went back and used my 1/2" ratchet and they have tightened up a bit more. It appears to have given me enough clearance. I've been so afraid of pulling the threads during fitment on this cab and doors due to it having been blasted and set outside for more than a decade. There are already a few that have not held that I knew were going to require fixing. Thanks for the eyeballs and suggestion! ![]() |

Re: Door hinge interference issue
I like to use a little anti seize on the bolt threads. Makes them go in soooo much better
