Detroit ad
I'm not sure where the best place to post this ad would be but I found this on social media. Sure, most of you have heard of the quad 4 engine that powered many a small GM car in the 90s as well as Oldsmobiles Aerotech concept car but, what about the Detroit quad? That's right 4 Series 71 Detroits linked up together delivering power through a single drive shaft. Imagine what application this Beast must have been used for.

Oil field use as well. I believe the configuration was perfected in WWII, the trick was a slip-clutch coupling between the engines that prevented them from beating each other up. Can't imagine the racket that beast must have made. Note how in-line 71 series Detroits can be assembled with the blower, governor, exhaust manifold and oil filter on either side 'mirror image' so in configurations such as these all the servicable components are on the outboard side. Many twin-engine Euclids were build this way to make them easier to work on.
