Hello All,
Have come across Summit Racing 12v direct replacement Electric Wiper motors and am wondering if any of you have had a chance to vet them out? https://www.summitracing.com/parts/s...D_BwE#overview Thanks in advance, JDarby

Re: Summit Racing 12v Electric wiper motors?
Newport engineering has a great track record for making wiper motors that fit without issues and are reliable. https://newportwipers.com/product/19...=1#wiper-motor
But then 50 dollars is 50 dollars.

Thank you mr48chev!
Will give Newport Engineering a look see, American made is always worth a few more dollars spent!

Re: Summit Racing 12v Electric wiper motors?
FWIW, a reviews on the Summit website said it wouldn't fit a GMC of that year and they returned it.
I have the New Port on my '49 and it works well. Instructions were good too, IIRC My only complaint was the switch on the New Port. A factory knob doesn't fit it very well and it takes some fiddling to get it to work |

Re: Summit Racing 12v Electric wiper motors?
Just my opinion, I love the vacuum wipers! I rebuilt mine with an NOS kit years ago. I literally couldn't leave it wide open as they went too fast. LOL
If you oil the flaps inside they will work much better. Brian

Miss the sound of the vacuum pump. Often thought about removing the electric and using a standalone vacuum pump/reservoir to operate the wipers. Have a pump but now too old make the swap.

Re: Summit Racing 12v Electric wiper motors?
Back when i was having power brake issues i bought and installed a fancy electric vacuum pump. Since then the brake issue was resolved with out it. Not really happy with the electric wipers as they do not make a full sweep like the old vacuum one. If i could it seems a simple matter to wire the vaccum pump to control the old vacuum wipers.

Re: Summit Racing 12v Electric wiper motors?
I installed a name brand electric wiper motor in my '49. Biggest issue is that the wipers do not make a full sweep. I've been thinking about rebuilding the vacuum motor, but I filled in the hole for the switch. And I havent driven the truck in the rain since I can't remember when. They are really there to pass inspection if I ever get stopped.
