Modifing Factory Gauge Tins for Factory Tach
I am looking at putting a OEM tach in my truck. My gauge cluster did not come with a tach so the tins are not set up to accept the tach. I am assuming someone has figured out how to modify the tins so a tach with fit/work. Does anyone have pictures/instruction on how to modify them?
(In my search I found a member named Coley that offered to send people instructions on how to do this. But seems like he hasn't been on the sote since 2001. Anyone have the instructions he was sending out?) |

Re: Modifing Factory Gauge Tins for Factory Tach
I posted a template for the opening that has to be cut in the back tin. See post #56.
https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...=813854&page=3 The hole in the front tin is much more tricky to do because it has a lip that has to be formed using custom tooling. Here's a video that shows the tooling I designed for this task. https://youtube.com/shorts/0GzBrGi_a0Y?feature=shared Member 70shortfleet offers a service for modifying the tins. He does excellent work. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...t=70shortfleet |

Re: Modifing Factory Gauge Tins for Factory Tach
At the end of the day wouldn't it be easier to just buy a tach conversion reproduction?
