Master Cylinder Question

Im in the process of getting my 71 c10 moving again. I purchased a rear disc kit awhile back which I'll be installing in the future just not at this moment. I noticed my current master cylinder is not operating and needs to be replaced. I'll be purchasing another master cylinder and have read that the mid 70s corvette work on these trucks. especially on all disc brakes. Can I install the corvettes' mc and still leave the rear drums on the truck until I change over to the disc set up. I'm hoping its a direct swap as far as the brake lines. My current set up has the proportioning valve. Anyone has the correct part number for the corvette mc. Thanks in advance

Re: Master Cylinder Question

A disc/disc master will not have the right balance for a disc/drum set up.

Following. Even if you leave the proportioning valve in it will throw of the balance?

Yes. A proportioning valve cannot compensate for overall incorrect fluid volume flow needed. Discs and drums need to flow very different fluid volumes.
