Mar-k products, bought any lately?

I ordered a complete molding kit from Mar-k for my 71 k20 in sept. I just got told 14 weeks today, for the second time. I really need my molding since the truck will be painted in the next couple weeks. It's looking like I'm gonna have to go the cheap route and buy the foreign ones.

Has anyone else had issue with them? I knew it would take a while, but dang.

Re: Mar-k products, bought any lately?

I have had nothing but problems with mar k. I ordered a wood bed kit last year in November. I was told 2 weeks backlog on the wood. Two weeks turned into 30 days. I called them and was told now 8 weeks delay. I waited. I called after 8 weeks and was told it would be 10 more weeks? I waited 3 weeks and called and asked again about the delivery and was told another 10 weeks? I just canceled the order this week as I have no faith in this company and don’t recommend them to anyone. Really wish I had positive feedback but unfortunately I don’t.

That's really disappointing. Thanks for the reply.

Wow! That is terribly disappointing. About three years ago I got a wood bed kit and complete bed (minus fenders and steps) from Mar K. The wood bed kit shipped fine and I drove to OKC and picked up the bed kit.

Hate to hear they are having these issues now.

If I was going to guess getting the materials is part of the problem. I ordered a complete lower trim kit for my blazer (from a different vendor) in October and was told same story. They said we will let you when available. I checked other vendors and all say not in stock but soon. good luck.

Re: Mar-k products, bought any lately?

I have been calling Mar-K and sent them emails. No replies at all.

I am guessing they just don't want to do business anymore. Too bad as I have ordered from them previously with good results.

I agree, I bought a trim set from them years ago and it was great. Obviously something has changed that is affecting their business.

Disappointing...

Re: Mar-k products, bought any lately?

I dug out all of my dinged up original trim today. Time to strip them and clean up the best I can. I hope to have them nice enough to go on my truck after paint.

I have a full set of upper/lower and tailgate trim purchased from Classic Heartbeat years ago. It is Counterpart brand, Wes still sells the same product and recently said it fits fine. I was also informed that many of Mar-K's dies were worn out and they have been outsourcing product for quite some time now.

Re: Mar-k products, bought any lately?

I just went on their website and looked at the most recent reviews a couple guys stating they were ripped off for over $3000 and mar k told them directly. They do not have the money to refund them.

Google reviews tell a similar story.

What a shame. Everything I got from them was quality.

Well hell, that doesn't give me confidence on a refund. I had contact as recent as two weeks ago when I was told I would be refunded and the order cancelled. The parts are still for sale on Summit racing.

What a terrible way to end a 50 year legacy of quality products. VERY troubling and sad.

I’ve used counterpart trim on several trucks, fits great and a whole lot less expensive than Mar-K was. Counterpart rubber seals are horrible though and I would use Precision or re-pop brand.

Speedracer. Not sure if you wanted something special for the wood, but ClassicParts.com has good prices on wood.

That is two popular car/truck hobby businesses that manufactured in the US that have died in the past few months. Fatman suspension is the other.

I know I know, this is a GM site, but in the Ford world "Midfifty" went outta business at the end of 2023 into 2024 last year. That was sad, lotta knowledge, and nice people who helped. Lotta good stuff.

In the later years--i was told-- if they had previously offered a higher quality part that fit better, and now they didn't offer that part anymore and instead sold an inferior part, they'd tell you over the phone upfront, that the part they now sell isn't as good as previously.
now that's honesty.

It's hard to believe some of our hobby is dying, but I'm not wealthy enough to build my trucks off of these websites/magazines. I hear people talking about $3k-5k-10k orders....who can afford that kinda stuff? Not me.

After the new owners took over Fatman, things went downhill fast. My brother had 2 front suspension units built by the old owners for a Javelin. About 2 years ago, he was having problems with one of them and stopped at the Fatman booth at Goodguys. Basically, in a not-so-nice way, they told him it was bought under the old owners, so go pound salt. He wasn't asking for anything free, just a replacement part or a company that could make him the part.

Poor business ruins good companies every time.
