Heater Core Bracket
I purchased a heater core from classic industries and it is too thick. My mounting brackets do not fit. This did not come with brackets. Any suggestions?

Re: Heater Core Bracket
If it is the aluminum core, i haven't seen a good fitting one yet. See if you can get a copper/brass set up if that is the case.

Re: Heater Core Bracket
I was working on a horribly dilapidated '67 C50 ten years ago and decided for some reason I'd get the heater working, but only for bare minimum effort and money. Ordered cheapest aluminum core, and you're right, it didn't fit well; but I made it fit and it works fine. It hasn't leaked and the box went back onto the cab fine.
The aluminum core installed recently in my '72 GMC fit tight as well, but the pipes were absoletely not even close. I figured I already bought the thing, so I man-handled them into position and it fit fine. I understand you may want to treat your precious truck more delicately than that, but spending extra money on a brass part sounds like you really need to be committed to pampering the truck, and that's a slippery slope. See what you need to do to make it fit, it should work. |

Re: Heater Core Bracket
Bought a Brass/Copper for my A/C truck from National Parts Depot a few years ago and then decide to have my original redone.

Re: Heater Core Bracket
Good job!
I've used the aluminum heater cores and had to "slighty" bend the mounting brackets in order to fit over the core. Other than that, I haven't had any issues with the aluminum heater cores.
