Need help to fix exhaust leak

I've got a nasty exh leak between my ram horn manifold and the pipe that bolts to it. I put in a new donut gasket, but it still is leaking past it. I've tightened the bolts as tight as I can and it doesn't seem to help.

Looking for any ideas/tricks that people have used to seal the manifold joint. The fix only needs to be temporary - I'll be putting headers on it in the near future.

Thanks for the help,

Paul

My neighbor sealed up a similar one with JB Weld. Just slopped it on, bolted it up and waited before running it. It worked. No amount of bolt tightening would stop the leak before that.

Furnace Cement. Get that wherever fireplace items are sold.

Apply liberally around the manifold joint. If any of the gaps at the joint are big enough to stuff scraps of window screen material (aluminum-not fiberglass!), put the screen scraps in and then coat with furnace cement.

Let set overnight.

Good for a few thousand miles or so.

I have used this trick to get vehicles through inspection when the donut gasket was missing and the rest of the exhaust wasn't long for this world either.

Since you will be putting headers on in the near future, a winky dink fix like this will work fine enough for now.

Thanks for the ideas!

I just pulled the manifold and it turns out that I blew out the bottom of the center gasket! I guess it was leaking at the head!

If it still leaks at the joint, I'll use the ideas posted.

Thanks again!

Paul
