Truck bucket seat questions

I have a set of 69-72 factory truck bucket seats that i have had redone for my truck. here is my problem yes i can use the orginal style passanger side mount and bolt the seat directly to the floor but i am trying to make the passanger side seat adjustable for comfort mostly. are there any bracket/seat tracks that will work for this seat or does anyone have any tips on how to intall these in my truck? i have the picturese for all the mounting holes to be drilled in the floor but the passanager side is really giving me a run for my money.

Re: Truck bucket seat questions

Regarding using bench brackets for bucket seats, this is probably the best thread on the subject.

https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...d.php?t=655950

Or, if you are good at fab work, I would suggest starting out with a set of van brackets, where the seat adjustor is in the front of the seat instead of on the side.

Re: Truck bucket seat questions

You can do what Beaumont@ did in the above referenced thread on his driver's seat for the passenger side , but if you are planning on using a stock console in the stock location, this will not work, which is why the factory used stationary seat brackets. I did the Beaumont@ conversion and I have been trying to think of a way to be able to adjust the seat without the lever on the left side, but have not come up with anything. I will probably make some kind of lever or adapt a later mechanism that is accessed from the front of the seat.

Re: Truck bucket seat questions

That may be what I end up doing if I can’t figure something out. I have a set of stationary brackets just in case.

Re: Truck bucket seat questions

I've never done it myself but this is what I was thinking of.

https://corbeau.com/products/chevrol...kets-1970-1985

As mentioned above, you would want the adjustor in the front, not on the left side where all the truck ones are found.

I think if a guy was good at fab work and had these parts that it would be a good start.

Re: Truck bucket seat questions

I used 66/67 Chevelle bucket seat tracks and then used square tube cut up to make my own risers to set the seat height. Now both sides slide and look factory. Had to make a plate to bolt to the seat bottom as well. I should have taken better pics but this thread I did covers the though process.

Re: Truck bucket seat questions

did you use the bench seat floor holes or did you drill new holes and what length and pich bol did you use to attach your risers and the chevelle tracks?

So what I did was I took flat bar and bolted it down on one end using the beach seat holes. I then drilled 2 holes in the floor pan to bolt the other end of the bar down, the bars are going across horizontal so front holes are tied together and rears are tied together. Then I took the flat bar drilled holes and counter sunk them for the Chevelle tracks, I welded and ground smooth flathead bolts into the countersink, this then makes a stud that pops up through the carpet and then I set the seat in and run a washer, lock washer and nut down to hold the seat in. I did make little plates to brace under the floor around the holes I drilled. But now I can easily remove my seats if I have to work on my tank at all and then easily install them again.

Re: Truck bucket seat questions

What about the adjustment lever on the passenger seat? The Chevelle tracks I am finding online have the lever sticking out the side, which won’t clear the console.

the 66/67 tracks have the adjuster pointing to the outside, they are mirrors of each other for each seat. I did have to bend up the adjusters to make sure they didnt hit my door, but they clear just fine. I have had my seats in my truck now for a couple of years with no issues.

I used like 1 1/4" long bolts for the bolts that held my flat bar to the floor of the cab. Enough to get a solid nut with a little extra. The counter sink ones were 1 1/2 or 1 3/4" long to put enough thread up to help locate through the carpet and run a full nut down. I have the thicker carpet kit wit thicker padding under it so had to run those a little longer.

I cant recall off the top of my head the long bolts that go through the track, riser/spacer and into the plate of the seat bottom. I do remember going back to the hardware store a couple times.
