Door Panel Question

I have a few questions about door panels on a 70 C!0. It has metal door panels and its been multiple years since I took it a parts. Here are my questions:
1) with metal door panels do you use upped door panel trim to help hold the panel in place?
2) what do you use to cover up the opening in the door to keep moisture and dirt from getting on the back side of the door panel?

Thanks

Lightbulb Re: Door Panel Question

1. Yes, the upper trim is a retainer. The metal door panel slides into it.

2. See below:

We used gaffers tape to mimic the OEM sealing on the inside of the doors as well as thick paper similar to OEM and smeared in some cosmoline.

Re: Door Panel Question

1970cts blazer- thanks.
Is the rubber molding just for a blazer or should it be on a truck door as well?

Thumbs up Re: Door Panel Question

The original material was a white foam, so the rubber will be better than that. Trucks, Suburbans and Blazers all got them.

Re: Door Panel Question

Here's a thread with some things I discovered with my door panels.

And this link goes to the most recent water prevention work I did on the Burban doors. It went all winter outside and the fabric stayed dry!
