Rebuild 12-bolt with Eaton Posi?
Hi guys, my ‘69 i6 has a stock 12 bolt with 3.73 factory gears.
I would like to rebuild the rear with new bearings/seals and add an Eaton Posi. I’m debating whether to do this myself or pull the rear and have a shop do it. How much can I expect to pay for this service (with the Eaton unit) at a shop? Also, can I expect that my axles are still good after 56yrs?

Re: Rebuild 12-bolt with Eaton Posi?
I would guess $1,600-$2,000 here in Ca. May be a bit low on my estimate. I would wager that removing the axle and taking it in would save nothing over just taking in the truck. So unless there is need to remove it, do not bother.

Thanks Richard, that’s steep
My thought to remove it is so I can clean/paint it.

Re: Rebuild 12-bolt with Eaton Posi?
Yes, everything is expensive now. For a master rebuild kit and the posi unit, well over 1k.
