Need some water pump help guys

So my 67 GMC, has an aftermarket, A c compressor it is a york and it mounts on the front driver's side of the 350 engine. Alternator on the passenger side. I am trying to put a fan clutch on the truck as it does not have one currently and use this two extensions to get it close to the radiator. I tried mounting the a fan to the water pump using the studs, and it is not going to wor. It will hit the york a c compressor. I'm really thinking a long water pump will work to clear the York AC. Compressor but I cannot find one on Amazon. Do any of you have a part number? I could use? Also, does a long water pump mount the same?

Re: Need some water pump help guys

Hi Michael, Is there a way to move the compressor further away from the fan and run a longer fan belt?

Also, is your '67 an original V8 truck? If not and the 350 is mounted in the rearward position like I6 & 4x4 SBCs, you might want to consider the deeper 4x4 shroud, which is what I did on my '67 that had an original straight 6. I'm using a short water pump and no spacers with my Derale 18" fan (17118) and Hayden 2705 clutch. That's a 4x4 upper radiator hose in the pic.

I believe if you put on a long water pump you will also have to change out all of your pullies and brackets. Things get real frustrating at that point. Maybe someone will chime in about that.

You may also consider Tim mc set up. It looks exactly like mine which opens everything up. Makes maintenance a whole lot easier

OP-are you sure you don't already have a long pump? That alternator bracket is '69 up car and would be for a long pump. I would start over and dump that aftermarket York compressor and go with a Sanden.

Re: Need some water pump help guys

Definitely a long water pump by the placement and bracket for the alternator like on my 72 that I’m currently working on putting it back to a short as the fan is to far into the shroud . If you put a clutch fan on the fan will definitely clear the compressor as it will be deep inside the shroud . Not ideal for cooling though.

Interesting. I know there are variations in layout, but hadn’t seen AC on the driver’s side. I’ve never seen a sidewinder compressor like that either.

Nobody asked, but here’s what I’m familiar with. Shoestring is aftermarket, or perhaps a dealer option

What is a "shoestring"? Just curious. This York setup was a very common installation, back in the early '70s. We'd find a new car for a customer equipped mostly like they wanted, but it wouldn't necessarily have AC. They went to a trusted shop for aftermarket AC to be installed.

Mine came with an aftermarket cable management option, you can see it hanging from the vacuum ball ;-)
