Recommend replacement gas tank for 1969 c10
Hi guys, I have been reading reviews online on replacement gas tanks for my 1969 c10 and boy are the reviews mixed.
I’m wondering if there’s any go to brand that guys here are using? Also, if I recall, there are some minor differences between 67-70 and 71-72. It would be helpful to understand what those are so I buy the right tank. I don’t think it’s worth fussing around with cleaning/flushing my existing tank since it’s 56yrs old and the truck has been sitting for years. Secondly, eventually I will be swapping in my 350 that’s sitting in my garage (truck currently has a 250 i6). Since I plan to replace all the lines and get a new sending unit, does it make sense to replace the lines with 5/16” or step right up to 3/8” now so I don’t have to do it twice later? Thank you!

5/16" will supply a mild 350, but I would just do the upgrade to 3/8" now. There isn't much to it.

I can do 3/8” up to the fuel pump which is 5/16”
Does that make sense?

Unless you're wanting to stay original, I recommend getting the tank out of the cab and installing a blazer style tank under the bed. There are several affordable options, and benefits for doing this. Free up some space behind the seat. Cheers.

My late dad convinced me to install a Blazer-style tank and remove the cab tank. I'm glad I did. I got a GM OEM filler tube cover for the bedside and installed the fuel filler like the '70 N18 aux tank. I went for convenience and didn't want the fuel filler in the bed where it might be covered by cargo or cause a mess.
'69 Camaro tanks have also been used with a spring-loaded license plate holder: https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...d.php?t=423035 If you stick with an in-cab tank, I'm thinking you might want a later '71-'72 for the ventilation, which could be either be capped, extended outside of the cab, or possibly used for a return line (?) as Rust_never_sleeps mentioned. Others might have better ideas based on their experience.

I’ve seen decent reviews for LMC gas tanks. One question:
They have two different P/Ns for a ‘69 c10 gas tank. One with a return line (labeled as EFI return) and one without a return line. This is a bit puzzling because wouldn’t the sending unit have the return line port and not gas tank itself for an application that has a return line (my ‘69 didn’t come with a return line of course). Would an EFI application have the return on the tank? And given that the price isn’t much different, should I buy the tank with the EfI return and cap it (in case I ever wanted to convert to EFI down the line)?
