POR15 into inner roof

Anyone out there considered spraying POR15 into inner roof and windshield area to prevent any rust from forming. Will be going through roof light and visor holes ? I have a small water leak and will pull windshield to replace with new GM seal later. Looks to me like the seam sealer man went a little thin on application.

Re: POR15 into inner roof

I did that on my Burban. I sprayed into everyplace I could get the sprayers wand into. I even added some more holes. The link below starts with some information and photos on what I did.

POR15 is a fantastic product. I ground down my wife's '69 Beaumont floors to bare metal, cleaned up, then coated with POR, before applying sound mat (foil backed tar based, then foam). Great stuff IMHO.

Well, lets be honest, the real judgement for most of our so called "rust proofing" that has taken hold of our hobby, that judgement must be save for 26 years from now after our vehicles have spent every day parked outside and used daily.

Kind of do not understand. POR15 is a product meant to be applied to rusty metal. There are much better products availble to protect bare metal.

I'd look for a leak in the seam sealer in the gutter.
If you replace the windshield gasket make sure you don't get one from Asia. It'll rot away in a year or two.

Re: POR15 into inner roof

I plan on using a product called Wax Oyl, it is a waxy substance that also has rust inhibiting properties that is easily sprayed via a sprayer with a long flexible small diameter tube (about 36 inches) to reach hard to get at areas. I will spray it into the roof area from the visor holes, into the A and B pillars, rockers, etc. I highly recommend it.

May wany to research prevention vs encapsulation vs conversion type products. I would think a 50+ yr old truck is probably to the stage of needing a converter.
