72 front diff carrier removal

I got the wheel axles out and the two caps off, but it won't budge. Am I missing something. I see YouTube videos for dana 44 jeeps and the carrier should pop out.

Re: 72 front diff carrier removal

it's a tight fit, technically you're supposed to use a case spreader but a pry bar will usually work. the shims are inboard of the bearings instead of outboard on a dana.

Re: 72 front diff carrier removal

thanks, I'm thinking the axle needs to come off and I'll get a spreader cuz if I got to use a pry bar to get it out, I don't want to think about how I'd get it back in.
