2" lower spring popping out of place
69 c/10 4-6 drop with 2" front lowering springs and KYB 344068 lowering shocks.
Stock control arms. When they jacked it up at the alignment shop the front spring popped out of place at the top, and we were unable to pop it back in again as there was still too much trension on it (the other one had popped out earlier already). I'm asuuming if I remove the shock and jack it up it will remove the tension and I can pop it back in again, but I cant do that everytime I jack the truck up. Question is. Do i have the wrong lowering shock that is letting the control arm travel too low causing the spring to pop out of place? The KYb shock has a travel of 9.6" - 15.28". looking at the Bell-Tech 2103-HA it has a travel of 9.5" - 14". Would putting the belltech shock in restrict the travel enough to stop the spring from popping out? My other option is to put the factory spring back in, but I really like the stance of the truck the way it is. |

Re: 2" lower spring popping out of place
what did you do with the droop stops in the upper control arm? You may need to replace with taller ones or build up the top of cross member where they land.
or figure out a shock with internal droop stop in the length you need. I'd jack it up and try to use a crowbar to pop spring back as you let it back down, it might not be easy since the spring fits over a shaped center piece in the pocket. Make sure both springs are clocked properly where the top sits over the cross member socket thing, the flats on the two sides are parallel, not symmetrical |

OK Yea. Why did that not dawn on me. Thats what stops the travel. I have aftermarket factory style control arms on it. They do have bumpstops, but I can just put a taller set in so it doesn't travel as far, and keeps more pressure on the spring. We"ll see if that solves my issue. Much better than expecting the shock to handle it. Hopefully that enough to keep them from popping out. I got the spring back in place no problem by temporarly removing the bump stop, then the spring was free and loose. just fell into place. |
