Hood repair

Have any of you guys ever replaced the lower part on the front of the hood. My 65 hood is really bad. I can see the spot welds on the bottom but I can't see what holds the upper part. Thanks.

Re: Hood repair

Replacing with patch panels?
I did mine. A LOT of work. You will need a spot weld cutter, a hood table, and someone to help you flip it continously, and bodywork skills.

Re: Hood repair

Thanks guys. I was looking at buying a new lower valance but am a little unsure how to get the old one out. I can see the spot welds on the bottom but can't see what holds the upper part. Are there more spot welds I can't see?

Re: Hood repair

it ll take patience and some time

you ll have to work with it and slowly locate each weld

and those weld(s) seem to hide at time(s) but they will reveal tnemselves with a little work

keep US updated and dont forget the foto(s) =)

Re: Hood repair

Going off memory, I believe there is a seem on the inside of the hood where that panel meets the rest of the hood. There should be spot welds along that seem that you'll need to drill out.
