Entire floor pan replacement
Has anyone had a shop replace the floor pan on their truck? I’m down to paint and body on my truck and the floor of my cab is shot, needs cab supports on both sides and rockers underneath, along with another issue.
I think it would be quicker to just replace the entire floor pan and I’m wondering if anyone has had this done and what they paid for the work? I see the full pans are reasonably priced but I’m not interested in doing it myself. Thanks, |

Re: Entire floor pan replacement
To pay someone you are likely looking at least 5K. If the floor is that bad more than likely there is problems in the cowl area that will need to be addressed as well. You may want to source a different cab. It is extremely hard to find anyone with the skills or desire to tackle a job like that.
If you are doing a complete frame up this may be the best bet. https://www.premierstreetrod.com/det...ruck_Cab_.html I am just finishing mine five years after I started. This would have saved me half of that time and probably not cost me that much more than I put in the truck anyway. Last edited by Rick Bollinger; 08-15-2025 at 10:06 AM. |

Re: Entire floor pan replacement
I'm just finishing up with the job that you described on my cab. I replaced the entire floor, rockers, cab corners, patched the firewall in a couple places, and all 4 lower pillars. I have to agree with Rick above, you're going to be hard pressed finding a shop that's interested in doing this job, and the ones you do find you'll likely end up with more into it than just buying the new cab that he linked to.
Looking at their website, do they have their weight wrong? I find it hard to believe that the cab weighs 2500 lbs.

It was a ton of work to say the least. But doable. The only reason I did it was the truck was an owner owner in the family so I wanted to save as much of the truck as possible. But a rust free cab would give you a Hugh head start on your truck build I can promise you that.

Tuckers also builds cabs. The guys we have building them are very talented and they are getting the gaps and fitment better than original. They can be found here: https://tuckersparts.com/products/19...10-chevy-truck

Re: Entire floor pan replacement
I had a guy dismantle my cab roof, put a new floor in and put new skins on the doors. Got in between all the panels cleaned up and sealed with paint. I supplied all the panels and the outer shell wasn't done any mud work and was bare steel. Cost me 16k canadian dollars. I think it was worth every penny to know all the rust I could possibly reach was taken care of and I dont feel like I overpaid.

Re: Entire floor pan replacement
Not gonna lie, there is a shift in mentality today that is spreading and I think its a good thing. You live in a wet place so if you having any metal work done, you're gonna need to be VERY careful with how it is prepped after that to make absolute sure it doesn't rust out again in 10 years; obviously you may be parking it inside which will help.
But you could always just poorly weld some patch panels and cover it with body filler. Most of these trucks aren't investments. I did some shoddy but reasonable work to my cab....but I love the truck for what it is and enjoy it every time I drive it(rarely). If ya just wanna drive it down a road and smile, just slap some scrap on it and move on with your life. If your purpose is to build a bragging machine that gets posted in magazines, wins at shows, and has guys buzzing about it on the internet(ooooooo thats MY favorite truck build ever!!!), then you need to fork over the cash and "do it right". The new "movement" going around the hobby today of encouraging people to drive around rust buckets and working on them slowly and being ok with that, it seems more "happiness inducing", and less "stress inducing". |
