1968 Chevy C10 side molding and what is the best way to mount it.

I have a 1968 Chevy C10 shortbed fleetside and I would like to install the original molding on the sides of the truck. The molding runs along the both sides of the truck from front to back and is the factory molding.

What is the best way to mount it? What do the clips looks like that hold it in place? Is there a place on ebay that sells them? I saw a parts place list a set for $65 dollars but they didnt have a pic and that seems expensive for just the hardware?

I bought something similar off Ebay if I recall. The kit has SS nuts and studs.

I am going the way of the video. Just cant get myself to drill all of those holes in a new body. The plastic is 1/16 of an inch. The video is kind confusing on material. I have about half of the pieces ready with the plastic installed should be able to start putting it on this week.

That is a fantastic way to install the body trim on these trucks.
Thank you the tip

Re: 1968 Chevy C10 side molding and what is the best way to mount it.

Well I just got mine done today. I did the tape method. It went fairly well and seems to be on there really well. Prep everything with rubbing alcohol and clean up your trim with it when your done. Pre fit all your pieces before you stick it on it wont move later. I started with the wheel well pieces then when they were 100% stuck on and screwed I straight lined the door and bed trim and just ran it between the wheels. It took all day but it's done. I did it with one sheet of the plastic and it does take the 1/16" or 1.5 mm stuff NOT the 1/8". I did have to open up the trim a little with a wide putty knife to get it in. Primer 94 like the video and about 2 rolls of the tape one will not do it. I took this one picture tonight walking out of my shop.

With Mar-k out of business, I wonder where everyone is buying their trim from?

For those of you that posted above, where did you get yours from?

Many thanks.

Re: 1968 Chevy C10 side molding and what is the best way to mount it.

I get mine from either H&H or Jim Carter. Jim Carter had a bunch of Mar-K in stock, so the last 2 pieces I ordered were actually Mar-k. I am guessing they are out now because the Made in USA is missing.

Counterpart is a lot better than Corvex, so wherever you buy from, get Counterpart.

I got mine from Summit. It was their brand. Mine has been on five months now and still stuck.
