Woodgrain gauge cluster

I am wanting to put in a woodgrain gauge cluster bezel but I was worried that it was not period correct for a late model 71 gmc Sierra. My truck was a high optioned truck and I may eventually add a tach and just maybe tilt, but I’m stuck on this woodgrain bezel. I’ve heard they only came on 72’s so I’m reaching out for help on this.

I want to put it on my truck but just want to make sure it’s correct for the year. The truck was built June of 71

Re: Woodgrain gauge cluster

Unless you are going for top flight restoration put in what ever makes you happy. I did that on my 72 and I am pleased with my result.

Re: Woodgrain gauge cluster

woodgrain came on 71 and 72 Sierra GRANDE, not the Sierra.

If you feel that strongly about wanting to do it, I say do it! As best view says, you can remove it later if you choose to.

Re: Woodgrain gauge cluster

Do what makes you happy. I did the opposite with my 1972 Cheyenne Super. I like the black camera case finish bezel better than the faux woodgrain.

Re: Woodgrain gauge cluster

Should I buy it with the bezel or have just the woodgrain face separately and install it on my pre existing bezel?

Re: Woodgrain gauge cluster

Given the history of the truck I would buy the bezel I liked and put the original on the shelf.

That’s what I’ve done. I put another bezel on it and kept the original blue bezel in my shed
