Wiper help needed
Trying to figure out what is going on with the wipers on my 67 C10. They will not work when the switch is rotated to the low or high position. But they will work when the switch is depressed to use the washer and the switch automatically rotates over to the low position. They will sweep one pass and go back to the home position. If I continue to hold the switch down, they continue to work and if I hold it down and rotate it to high, they seem to speed up. Basically the motor seems to function properly, but only when depressing the switch continually. They do not work when just rotating the switch normally. Could the switch be the problem?

Re: Wiper help needed
Yes. R&R the switch.
Pull all the Knobs off the Dash. As many as 4. Each is differently attached. You'll need a pair of needle nose pliers to pull all the switch bezels. Open the jaws of the pliers to put into the two holes in the bezel and twist Counter Clock Wise. Next pull the 6 screws on the Dash panel. You might not need to disconnect the wiring Cluster Plug. If you have the Factory Oil Pressure Gauge, you have to disconnect that. Be careful of leaking oil. [I once ruined a pair of Hush Puppy boots by not correctly reconnecting the Oil line -- it sprayed all over my new tan rawhide boots.] A thinned nut holds the Wiper Switch to the steel frame of the underdash. Pull that, and you get to the terminals. Put the leads on the new switch lust like they were on the old switch. Reassemble in reverse order...

Re: Wiper help needed
Thanks, I’ve ordered a new switch.

Re: Wiper help needed
That should get it. Because your ''Bug Blaster'' -- momentary shot of wiper fluid and wiper action -- works, I don't think it's the motor.
When my washer worked, pushing the Wiper knob started the action, but it had to be manually turned off IIRC. [Now I splash the windshield with bottled water that's been sitting in the sun, then turn on the wipers, and splash some more hot water on until the windsheild is cleaned. Vehicle stopped and idling.] Replacement Wiper Motors have gotten spendy of late. A 2008 LMC catalog wanted $129 plus $30 core charge. Current Classicparts.com listed $309. But RockAuto has wiper motor selections under $100. [Oddly no Wiper Switch listed.] Wiper swiches have stayed at a stable price.
