T5 Swap - Thrust bearing

1951 GMC with stock 228
Trans is a 1985 NWC T5 from an S10

I am in process of installing a T5 behind the 228 in my '51 GMC. After swapping to the Jeep input shaft and beginning to put everything back together I realized that there was NOT a thrust bearing and race (64 & 65 in diagram) in the trans. I watched a few videos online and re-read the Lugnutz website to see if this was common and cannot find any information that would lead me to believe that those parts should not be in the NWC trans. Before I get too far along, I want to confirm my suspicion that I need to track these parts down and install before closing everything back up again.

Please let me know if you anyone can confirm for me.

Thanks
