The factory spring steel is going to be a lot better than the new springs made from the chinese crap. A rework will probably out last you

Re: replacement leaf springs 68 GMC
What? Alcan Spring is in Grand Junction CO. I just ordered a set for my 4x4. They were half that price (approx, your mileage may vary....) But they take about 6 weeks to make.....
Maybe a Mod can move this to suspension?

Re: replacement leaf springs 68 GMC
In truth unlss they were damaged when they were de-arched a good spring shop should be able to re-arch them again. Have you talked to Boise Spring works https://www.boisespringworks.com/ or are they the 900 a spring outfit?
Rock Auto shows a Dayton 22409 as being for a 68 GMC 1/2 ton. 289.79 Each from them. A search for that number shows Napa listing them for 150 more each. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...af+spring,7544

Re: replacement leaf springs 68 GMC
That seems really steep. Think Deaver, Alcan and Atlas are about $800-$1K for a pair. That is custom 10 leaf long travel springs. I purchased a couple of sets from Deaver a few years back. There are few company's that have been mentioned in the past for stock type replacement. Less than half that cost IIRC.

Re: replacement leaf springs 68 GMC
Careful, I think '67-'68 4X2 rear leaf springs are different than '69-up. Also, 4X2 leaf springs are not the same as 4X4's.
