oil leak from where?
My LS swap is leaking oil and I have slowly been fixing everything that is leaking. I am down to oil dripping off the torque converter cover. I thought rear main, however, after removing the TC cover the torque converter and starter teeth are bone dry. I have since added a dab of ultra black on the outside of the oil pan on both sides (ie where the dab goes at the junction of oil pan and rear cover) but I don't think it was leaking there.
It appears something above is leaking. So I removed the intake to investigate the CPS and the oil pressure port. There is seepage there but not a smoking gun. Is there anything else it could be? |

Re: oil leak from where?
check the oil sender before you take things apart, common for them to leak around the wires.

Re: oil leak from where?
Thanks for the suggestions. The oil sender has been converted to mechanical and is sealed up pretty well.
I recently replaced the dipstick tube as it was the major part of my oil leaks. Whoever did the LS swap had broken it when they had to bend it to clear the headers. I'm going to clean the engine again and hope to catch the source before it spreads too far to be identified. |

Could be a rear main seal?

Re: oil leak from where?
I think I have it figured out, but I've never heard of this issue.
The rear main seal is not leaking, but the rear main cover is. The torque converter is completely dry and clean. The flex plate is dry and clean. But the back of the cover is damp. Apparently, it is leaking and the flex plate is blowing it forward against the back of the engine. I cleaned the motor real good and went on a short drive. No leaks above. But oil was dripping from the torque converter cover. I don't understand it because any leakage into the rear cover is supposed to end up in the oil pan. I don't have any strange oil pressure. It's not a large leak (right now) but just enough to be annoying. Ultimately, it will require the same fix as a Rear main. $$$$ PS> I am assuming that if the main seal were leaking the flex plate would be soaked and spraying oil everywhere, correct me if I'm wrong. Re: oil leak from where?
I usually replace the entire rear main seal housing
https://www.partsdirect.parts/parts/...20group%20%231 and the dog bone https://www.amazon.com/Billet-Rear-G...dp/B08RF2YNYF# also check the plate above the oil filter on some model engines....
